WORLD MATCHPLAY RACE HEATS UP: CHISNALL FACES FIRST ABSENCE IN 15 YEARS AS SMITH AND WRIGHT MISS CUT

The World Matchplay race is entering its final stretch with just two events remaining before the cut-off, set to take place in Leicester on 6-7 July. According to the latest standings as of 24 June 2026, Dave Chisnall is on the verge of missing the tournament for the first time since joining the PDC in 2011, having played every edition since then. He sits just over £5,000 outside the qualifying spots and is currently outside the top 16 on the ProTour Order of Merit.

Damon Heta currently occupies the 16th and final qualifying spot on the ProTour Order of Merit, with Cameron Menzies, Daryl Gurney, Joe Cullen, and Ryan Joyce also poised to sneak in through that route. Others narrowly missing out include Kim Huybrechts, who has enjoyed a renaissance, as well as Sebastian Bialecki, Karel Sedlacek, and Jeffrey de Graaf. On the Main Order of Merit, Luke Littler tops the list as defending champion, followed by Luke Humphries, Michael van Gerwen, and other former champions James Wade, Gary Anderson, and Nathan Aspinall. Rob Cross, who at one point looked likely to miss out, has climbed to sixth in the ProTour standings.

Several players will make their World Matchplay debuts, including William O'Connor, Kevin Doets, and Niels Zonneveld. However, notable absentees include Michael Smith, who won't make the cut, and former winners Peter Wright and Dimitri van den Bergh, who are now out of contention. Mike de Decker also looks unlikely to qualify, meaning three Belgians will likely miss out. Raymond van Barneveld is another high-profile absentee, signaling a changing of the guard as players like Luke Woodhouse, Wessel Nijman, Kevin Doets, and Niels Zonneveld lead the charge.

The full standings show Luke Littler leads the Main Order of Merit with £2,928.5k, while Luke Woodhouse tops the ProTour Order of Merit with £167.75k. The final two events in Leicester will determine the remaining qualifiers before the World Matchplay begins at the Winter Gardens.
