Raymond van Barneveld, the five-time world champion, has made a significant move off the oche by joining Invictus Darts Management as a player, legend and ambassador. The 59-year-old Dutchman, who has been struggling with early exits and faces the risk of missing major tournaments like the Players Championship Finals and the PDC World Darts Championship, is hoping this partnership marks a fresh start in his career.
Van Barneveld joins fellow darters Jurjen Van der Velde, Archie Self and Tyler Thorpe under the Invictus banner. The management group is owned by the 'Triple S Group', which also counts former Manchester United and England striker Wayne Rooney among its members. Rooney, currently doing punditry work for the ongoing World Cup, took time to welcome van Barneveld with a message: “Welcome to Triple S Group mate.”
“I am delighted and very excited to have joined Invictus Darts Management,” van Barneveld wrote on X. “They are committed to providing the very best support any Dart player could ask for, and I am looking forward to working with them for many years to come.” Invictus also expressed their excitement, posting a video with the caption: “We’re incredibly proud to welcome @RayBar180 to Invictus Darts Management. A giant of the sport and a true gentleman, Raymond joins Team Invictus as Player, Legend & Ambassador. Welcome, Raymond.”
This move signals van Barneveld's intention to continue challenging for top titles and remain among the elite, supported by his permanent relocation to the UK to reduce travel. With the World Matchplay, World Grand Prix, and European Championship likely out of reach for now, van Barneveld will rely on his new management team to help him find his form on the oche.
