Luke Humphries sensationally defended his US Darts Masters title at Madison Square Gardens on Saturday, surviving match darts to beat Gian van Veen before edging Luke Littler 8-7 in a thrilling final.
The world number one showed incredible resilience throughout day two of the event, first coming through a nail-biting semi-final against van Veen where he saved multiple match darts to keep his title hopes alive.
In the final, Humphries faced teenage sensation Luke Littler in a repeat of their recent World Championship showdown. The match went down to the wire, with Humphries eventually prevailing 8-7 to secure back-to-back US Darts Masters crowns.
The victory caps a remarkable run for Humphries in New York, as he becomes the first player to win consecutive US Darts Masters titles since the event's inception. Fans at Madison Square Gardens were treated to a spectacular display of darts from both finalists.
Attention now turns to the World Matchplay, which will be broadcast live on Sky Sports from Blackpool from July 18-26.
