Sherrock's comprehensive victory capped a pivotal day in the battle for PDC World Darts Championship places, with the top three finishers in the Women's Series Order of Merit securing Ally Pally spots.
Ashton had earlier claimed the Event 17 title, beating Lauryn Salter 5-0 in the final. The former women's world champion's path to that title included victories over Gemma Hayter (5-4), Grace Ferridge (5-1), and Lauren Hall (4-1). Salter, meanwhile, reached the final with a 5-4 semi-final win over Jade Gofford, having also beaten Emma Pearce (5-2) and Italian prospect Aurora Fochesato (4-1).
Sherrock's Event 17 campaign ended in the last 16 at the hands of Aileen De Graaf, despite hitting a tournament-high 94.34 average in her last 32 win over Karolina Ratajska. In Event 18, Sherrock bounced back in style, while notable semi-final runs came from Gemma Hayter and Karolina Ratajska, with Trina Gulliver and Kirsty Hutchinson also impressing.
The weekend's results carry significant implications for World Championship qualification. With Beau Greaves likely to have played her final Women's Series event, Ashton is now the de facto leader in the race for Ally Pally. Sherrock's position is less secure, with Vicky Pruim and Gemma Hayter among those closing in. Deta Hedman also remains in contention, though she may opt for the Lakeside route as defending WDF World Champion.
