Former WDF World Champion Dick van Dijk, known as "The Undertaker," made a surprise appearance on Tuesday evening on the wildly popular Dutch reality show B&B Vol Liefde. The 2005 world champion, who had largely stayed out of the spotlight since his darts career, appeared on the show to visit contestant Mireille, who runs a bed and breakfast in France.
Van Dijk rose to prominence in 2005 when he became WDF World Champion. On the show, he proudly stated, "We became overall world champions and I did it individually. So I’m actually a two-time world champion." His darts career, he said, has given him plenty of experience with bed and breakfasts: "I’ve had to stay in a lot of B&Bs. So I know a thing or two about what should and shouldn’t be done."
The Dutchman, who has been single for almost a year, described himself as a good team player and expressed hopes of winning Mireille's heart. "I always wanted to go abroad. If I fall in love with her, and she with me, then it’s a win-win," he said, adding with a smile, "Who gets the chance to share their life with a world champion?"
Van Dijk's first impression of Mireille was positive: "She comes across as very open and I actually expect very few problems there." Mireille's initial reaction was also favorable, though she quickly noticed the former pro darter can be quite cheeky. Van Dijk, however, saw no issue, concluding, "I think I really like her. I think she really likes me too. Which, of course, makes sense — I am very likeable."
