Former WDF world champion Dick van Dijk has swapped the oche for a shot at romance, appearing on Tuesday evening's episode of the wildly popular Dutch reality show B&B Vol Liefde. The 2005 world champion, nicknamed 'The Undertaker', visited contestant Mireille, who runs a bed and breakfast in France, in a bid to find love.
Van Dijk, who has kept a low profile since his darts heyday, proudly reminded viewers of his achievements on the show. "We became overall world champions and I did it individually. So I'm actually a two-time world champion," he said. The Dutchman also drew on his extensive B&B experience from his playing days, stating, "I've had to stay in a lot of B&Bs. So I know a thing or two about what should and shouldn't be done."
Having been single for almost a year, Van Dijk is hoping his charm and team-player mentality will win Mireille over. "I always wanted to go abroad. If I fall in love with her, and she with me, then it's a win-win," he said, adding with a smile, "Who gets the chance to share their life with a world champion?"
First impressions were positive on both sides, though Mireille quickly noticed the former pro can be quite cheeky. Van Dijk, unfazed, concluded, "I think I really like her. I think she really likes me too. Which, of course, makes sense — I am very likeable."
