James Wade has pulled out late from this weekend's Hungarian Darts Trophy, which is due to take place between Friday 28 and Sunday 30 August at the MVM Dome in Budapest. The PDC confirmed the withdrawal on Thursday, with Wade deciding not to travel despite a recent triumph in Australia.
Wade was victorious in Wollongong last weekend, winning the Australian Darts Masters, but ahead of a hectic few weeks, he has opted to skip the Budapest event. The reasoning behind his decision is not fully clear, other than the fact that he has decided not to play this weekend.
As per Rule 3.7, Wade has been directly replaced in the draw by Madars Razma. Razma will now face either Martin Schindler or Keane Barry on Saturday, taking Wade's spot in the draw despite not technically being a seed. This means he will not play until after Schindler and Barry have faced off.
This late withdrawal follows an earlier change to the field, as Gerwyn Price initially withdrew from the event and was replaced by Callan Rydz prior to the draw being confirmed. The field in Budapest is led by Luke Humphries, who opens against Dirk van Duijvenbode or David Pisek, with Gian van Veen and Michael van Gerwen among the other big names competing in the Hungarian capital.
