The Welsh Classic 2026 delivered a day of thrilling WDF action in Wales, with 16-year-old prodigy Kaya Baysal securing his sixth WDF title and Vicky Pruim ending a long wait for glory. Baysal overcame home favourite Llew Bevan 6-3 in the men's final, while Pruim edged out Kirsi Viinikainen 5-4 in a tense women's showpiece.
Baysal's path to the title was marked by dominant displays. He started with a 4-2 win over Craig Dobbins, then thrashed Jake Arniszewski 4-0. A 91.04 average saw him dispatch Addison Hefferon 4-1, before Timothy Jones and Joe Croft fell 4-1 and 4-2 respectively. In the quarter-finals, Paul Linwood was beaten 4-2, and Pat Scurfield was halted despite a comeback attempt after Baysal took a 4-0 lead. In the final, Baysal trailed 3-1 but won the remaining five games, hitting 84 and 146 checkouts and finishing with a 17-darter to lift the trophy.
Pruim's victory was her first WDF title since March 2024, a long-awaited return to the top step. She began with a commanding 4-1 win over Lyn Marsden, then demolished Jessica Bonner and Lorraine Hyde 4-0. Against Fallon Sherrock, 'The Queen of the Palace', Pruim averaged over 86 in a 4-2 win, her best performance of the day. She then took down reigning WDF World Champion Deta Hedman 4-2 to reach the final. In a dramatic final, Pruim led 4-2 before Viinikainen forced a decider, but Pruim found the winning dart with her opponent left on 20.
The results highlighted the depth of talent on show, with both champions displaying resilience and composure under pressure. Baysal's sixth WDF title at just 16 cements his status as one of the sport's brightest young stars, while Pruim's triumph proves her class on the WDF Circuit once again.
