Vincent van der Voort has revealed that Kevin Doets is unlikely to appear on his podcast 'Darts Draait Door' anytime soon, because the young Dutchman is reportedly angry with him. The former professional darter shared the news during a recent episode of the show, which he co-hosts with Damian Vlottes.
The topic arose when the hosts discussed which guests they would still like to welcome. Doets, who has been impressing with strong performances this year, was quickly mentioned. However, Van der Voort explained why a booking seems off the table for now. “From a reliable source I’ve heard that he’s a bit angry with me,” he said.
The reason traces back to comments Van der Voort made about Doets’s girlfriend, following a meeting that caused considerable commotion. “Yes, I said something about his girlfriend when they had that meeting and everything. That’s right,” Van der Voort acknowledged. Despite the tension, he shows understanding for Doets’s reaction. “If he’s angry about that, that’s allowed, right?” he said matter-of-factly.
When someone suggested that Van der Voort didn’t mean it in a harmful way, he responded plainly: “Yes, I do.” He stands by his words, though he insists the issue was not meant personally. The podcast team noted that this doesn’t mean they have to shut down the show, and Van der Voort is keeping the door open, but he won’t be chasing Doets. “I really don’t mind,” he concluded.
The situation remains level-headed, with clear irritation on Doets’s side but no apparent desire from Van der Voort to escalate matters. Whether the two can eventually set aside their differences remains to be seen.
