The PDC World Darts Championship is set to return to Alexandra Palace in North London from 11 December 2026 to 3 January 2027, with the usual Christmas break between 24-27 December. Luke Littler, who defeated Gian van Veen 7-1 in last year's final, will be aiming to retain his title for a third consecutive time, with £1 million on offer for the winner.
For the first time, the tournament will move into the Great Hall, expanding capacity to a record 180,000 tickets. Tickets will be allocated via a two-stage ballot system. PDCTV Annual Members receive an exclusive priority window, with the Members Ballot opening on Tuesday September 1 and closing at midnight on Monday September 7. To be eligible, fans must have an active PDCTV Annual subscription before 23:59 BST on Sunday August 30. The General Ballot opens at 12:00 BST on Tuesday September 8 and closes at 23:59 BST on Monday September 14, open to all fans. Entering either ballot does not guarantee tickets, as demand is expected to exceed capacity.
The prize money breakdown is expected to mirror last year's, with £1 million for the winner, £400,000 for the runner-up, £200,000 for semi-finalists, £100,000 for quarter-finalists, and decreasing amounts down to £15,000 for last-128 losers, totaling £5 million. The tournament will feature 128 players for the second consecutive year, meaning seeds will have to play an extra round.
In the UK, the championship will be broadcast live on Sky Sports, with a dedicated Sky Sports Darts channel for the event, as part of a deal running until 2030. International broadcasters include Viaplay (Netherlands, Poland, Norway, Denmark, Bulgaria & Baltic States), DAZN (Germany, Austria, Switzerland), Sport1 (Germany), Fox Sports (Australia), Sky (New Zealand), Nova (Czech Republic & Slovakia), Prago Sport (Hungary), and VTM (Belgium). Outside these regions, matches are streamed live on PDCTV.
The format remains unchanged: first and second rounds are best of five sets, third and fourth rounds best of seven, quarter-finals best of nine, semi-finals best of 11, and the final best of 13 sets. To win a set, players need three legs, with a two-leg margin required in deciding sets, and sudden death if it reaches 5-5.
