Luke Littler's ambitious quest to win every major title in a single calendar year could hinge on a single result at the World Series of Darts Finals, according to Vincent van der Voort. The reigning world champion currently sits 125th on the Pro Tour Ranking, a position that undersells his performances but reflects his limited participation in Players Championship events in recent months.
Speaking on the 'Darts Draait Door' podcast, Van der Voort outlined the challenge ahead: "There's still work to do. There are two more tournaments in England and four in the Netherlands." Two of those Dutch events follow immediately after the World Series Finals, making it logistically simple for Littler to extend his stay. "If he really wants to get it done, then he has to play them," Van der Voort insisted. "The only question is whether Littler is willing to plan a longer stay in the Netherlands."
That decision, Van der Voort argues, could depend on how deep Littler goes in Amsterdam. "If he goes out on Thursday, for example, I don't think he'll stay until Tuesday," he said. But a deep run changes everything: "If he reaches the final on Sunday, then I can see it. Then it's easy, because you only have to stay one day." An early exit on Saturday would also likely see Littler skip the Dutch Pro Tour events entirely.
The stakes are high because Littler has publicly stated his desire to win everything in one calendar year. "He said: I want to win everything in one year. And that's why he wants to play the Pro Tour," Van der Voort noted. However, if that dream dies early at the World Series Finals, the motivation could vanish. "If he doesn't win it, then he can also say: just leave it altogether. Then he goes and doesn't play them at all."
The coming weeks will be decisive. Littler still has six Players Championship opportunities to improve his ranking, but his willingness to commit to the grind may ultimately be dictated by results on the oche. As long as his grand ambition remains alive, Van der Voort believes the path is clear: Littler must head to the Netherlands.
