Social media was divided as the semi-finals featured world champions Luke Littler, Luke Humphries, Michael van Gerwen, and Gerwyn Price. While some fans lauded the high-quality matches, others complained about the predictability of the outcome. Nicolas Gayer, Editor for DartsNews.DE, highlighted the dilemma: "In my opinion, the 2026 Czech Darts Open perfectly highlighted the dilemma that many darts fans — and perhaps even the sport as a whole — currently find themselves facing." He noted that this season, top players have often skipped European Tour events to manage their schedules, but when they do play, the same names dominate.
Samuel Gill, Head Editor for DartsNews.com, agreed, saying: "For me, the European Tour is honestly at its best when we have stories like Ross Smith and Gary Anderson last week... I've seen Littler v Humphries more than I've seen family members at times this year. It is not a fun tie anymore and often Littler wins anyway." Gill added that the sport needs a widescale change, whether that means forcing top players to compete or introducing something different.
