“I THREW OVER THE TOP”: LEON WEBER REVEALS ADRENALINE-FUELLED BLUNDER ON NERVE-RACKING PDC STAGE DEBUT

German darts prospect Leon Weber has opened up about the overwhelming nerves he experienced during his major PDC stage debut, admitting that adrenaline got the better of him on his very first visit to the oche. The 23-year-old Tour Card holder, speaking at the Pub Edition of The Last Flight in Krefeld, recalled his 2025 European Darts Grand Prix opener in Sindelfingen against Ryan Joyce.

“I remember exactly what it was like just before. Before you start your walk-on, my heart rate was something you can’t really describe,” Weber said. “I simply walked past my own people. Normally, you greet them and give them a high five.” The tension only intensified once he reached the stage. “Then I was standing up there and I remember that with my first darts, I was so full of adrenaline that when I went for treble 20, I actually threw over the top and hit tops.”

Despite the shaky start, Weber settled to win 6-3 against Joyce, hitting two high finishes at crucial moments. “In the end, I still won that match against Ryan Joyce and hit two high finishes at important moments. So it was a good debut,” he reflected. His run ended in the second round against Peter Wright, who averaged over 105 in a 6-4 victory.

Weber, currently 87th in the world rankings, also discussed his nine-darter at a Players Championship event in Leicester. “No one can ever take that experience away from me. It’s an incredible feeling that it was also captured on video,” he said. “To this day, I’ve watched it back an incredible number of times. I think I’m almost into five figures by now.”

Off the oche, Weber is expanding his presence on social media, recently launching his own TikTok channel and enjoying collaborations with other players and creators. However, one topic remains unresolved: his nickname. During The Last Flight, Max Hopp encouraged fans to submit suggestions, with options including “Leon der Löwe,” “The Web,” “Spider-Man,” and “Leonidas.” Weber himself proposed “Leon – der Profi,” a nod to the 1995 cult film. As of September 2026, no official nickname has been chosen.
