Sebastian Bialecki impressively secured his place in the second round of the Flanders Darts Trophy, surviving a thrilling first-round clash against Kim Huybrechts. The match had far more at stake than simply a place in the next round, as both players were directly involved in the battle for qualification for the World Grand Prix. Bialecki ultimately kept his nerves under control better and prevailed in a dramatic deciding leg.

"I know before this match is really important for the big stages, of course, big tournament, but I want to do this match just prepared like everyone, like every match what I play and I know it's with Kim will be hard in here, of course in Belgium because he's from here," Bialecki said.
Despite that, the Pole made an excellent start to the match. He initially looked particularly strong on the doubles. As the pressure continued to build, Bialecki remarkably appeared to remain calm. However, as the match progressed, that picture changed completely. The contest developed into a nerve-wracking battle in which both players had chances to take control. Bialecki even had several opportunities to decide the match early, but repeatedly saw Huybrechts fight back.
"So thank you very much for Kim, of course for this incredible game, of course I throw the big fish and after my miss one dart every time just checked it out. It's incredible and I'm very happy with this win," Bialecki said.
In the deciding leg, the tension reached an absolute peak. Bialecki once again had the chance to finish the contest, but missed several match darts. That gave Huybrechts the opportunity to turn the match around completely. "After my first match dart, I missed but then he throw 112 and then I missed also one. The 88. Every time maybe not this time it will be, but at the finish, doubles was incredible for me," Bialecki said.
The Pole saw his chances becoming increasingly slim. Huybrechts was on a double at a crucial moment and looked capable of completing the comeback. For Bialecki, the outcome seemed almost decided at that point. "This last leg when he just got to the double I think probably it's over but I still had the chance," Bialecki admitted.
That mental resilience ultimately proved decisive. Bialecki managed to pull out a match that threatened to slip away from him at several points. As a result, he not only secured his place in the second round of the Flanders Darts Trophy, but also claimed an extremely important victory in the battle for the World Grand Prix. For Huybrechts, the defeat was particularly painful. The Belgian was playing in front of his home crowd and also knew that a victory would have had huge implications for his chances of qualifying for Leicester. Ultimately, it was Bialecki who walked off the stage as the winner after one of the most dramatic matches of the night.
