The World Series of Darts Finals reaches its climax in Amsterdam tonight, with a boosted prize fund of £450,000 on the line — up from last year's total of £400,000. The winner will pocket £100,000, while the runner-up is set for £60,000.
The tournament, held from 17 to 20 September, serves as the season ender for the World Series of Darts, which comprises six unranked tournaments. Those events concluded last month with the double header in Australia and New Zealand. The field features 32 players: the top 24 from the World Series rankings, the top four non-qualified players from the PDC Order of Merit, and four Tour Card holder qualifiers.
Michael van Gerwen arrives as defending champion, having defeated Luke Littler 11-7 in last year's final. Both lead the field, with Gerwyn Price seeded second, sandwiched between top seed Van Gerwen and third seed Littler. The seeding is based on the events and the World Series Order of Merit at the end of it all — meaning that despite being World No. 1, Littler does not figure at the top of the rankings, with Van Gerwen having the most success this season.
Luke Humphries, Gian van Veen, Jonny Clayton, James Wade and Stephen Bunting are among those also involved, along with Nathan Aspinall, Josh Rock and Damon Heta, among others in the rankings qualifiers or Tour Card qualifiers.
The prize money breakdown sees semi-finalists claim £30,000, quarter-finalists £17,500, second round losers £10,000 and first round losers £5,000.
