Luke Humphries has extended his remarkable record at the semi-final stage of major tournaments, winning his most recent 19 last-four appearances at major level. The latest victory came against James Wade in the 2026 World Grand Prix, a 5-3 win in which Humphries averaged 96.83.

That streak began back in 2023, when Humphries defeated Joe Cullen 4-0 in the World Grand Prix semi-final, a result that the source describes as the catalyst that boosted him into the elite. Since then, he has taken down Wade in the Grand Slam of Darts, while averages of 106.26 and 108.74 saw off Ryan Joyce and Scott Williams en route to the Players Championship Finals and PDC World Darts Championship title triumphs respectively.

In 2024, Humphries reached seven major finals, including the World Championship, winning all of them. However, he could not maintain his consistent final performances thereafter. He won only a single major title in 2025 at the Winmau World Masters, and aside from the World Cup of Darts a year later alongside Luke Littler, he has come up short in a number of subsequent final appearances.

The semi-final results are not only consistent in terms of wins but also in the performances produced. Humphries averaged over a ton in almost half of them. Aside from the Premier League Darts 2026 semi-final against Jonny Clayton, which he won 10-9 with a 96.16 average, the scorelines heavily favour the Englishman. His semi-final victories include a 16-10 win over James Wade at the 2024 Grand Slam, an 11-3 win over Ryan Joyce at the 2024 Players Championship Finals, a 6-0 win over Scott Williams at the 2024 World Championship, an 11-2 win over Ricky Evans at the 2024 UK Open, a 10-5 win over Michael van Gerwen at the 2024 Premier League, an 8-4 win over Scotland at the 2024 World Cup, a 17-10 win over James Wade at the 2024 Matchplay, a 5-0 win over Ryan Joyce at the 2024 Grand Prix, an 11-8 win over Dirk van Duijvenbode at the 2024 Players Championship Finals, a 5-2 win over Danny Noppert at the 2025 World Masters, a 10-7 win over Nathan Aspinall at the 2025 Premier League, a 5-3 win over Danny Noppert at the 2025 Grand Prix, an 11-8 win over Danny Noppert at the 2025 European Championship, a 16-13 win over Gerwyn Price at the 2025 Grand Slam, a 5-0 win over Gian van Veen at the 2026 World Masters, an 8-3 win over Scotland at the 2026 World Cup, and the 5-3 win over James Wade at the 2026 Grand Prix.

While Humphries did win the World Cup this year, his last five major finals have ended in defeat. Four of those losses came against Littler, with Gian van Veen defeating him at the European Championship. He will have a chance to end this run against Gerwyn Price in the final of the 2026 World Grand Prix.
