SWISS DARTS TROPHY 2026: HUMPHRIES SEEDED NO.1 AS LITTLER SKIPS BASEL, £230,000 ON THE LINE

The Swiss Darts Trophy is set to take place from 9-11 October 2026 at St Jakobshalle in Basel, serving as the penultimate tournament of the European Tour season before the Dutch Darts Championship. The event will feature a field of 48 players competing for £230,000 in prize money, with Luke Humphries pencilled in as top seed alongside Gian van Veen, Jonny Clayton, James Wade, Michael van Gerwen and Josh Rock also leading the way.

Luke Littler will not bother for the rest of the European Tour season and won't play in Basel and Maastricht. The draw will be confirmed on Thursday at midday before the tournament starts on the Friday, with the schedule confirmed shortly after. The top 16 ProTour stars will face the qualifiers, with the big names paired with one of the winners.

The first round gets underway on Friday October 9 with an afternoon session at 13:00 CET (12:00 GMT) featuring Niels Zonneveld v Bradley Brooks, William O'Connor v Jani Haavisto, Mensur Suljovic v Gyorgy Jehirszki, Sebastian Bialecki v Karel Sedlacek, Niko Springer v HNQ2, Joe Cullen v Tom Bissell, Cameron Menzies v Cristo Reyes and Rob Cross v Mario Vandenbogaerde. The evening session at 19:00 CET (18:00 GMT) sees Andrew Gilding v HNQ1, Jeffrey de Graaf v Sietse Lap, Dave Chisnall v Alan Soutar, Raymond van Barneveld v Maik Kuivenhoven, Dirk van Duijvenbode v HNQ3, Michael Smith v Rob Owen, Damon Heta v HNQ4 and Kevin Doets v Nick Kenny.

Saturday October 10 brings the second round, with the afternoon session at 13:00 CET (12:00 GMT) featuring Krzysztof Ratajski v Gilding/HNQ1, Wessel Nijman v Bialecki/Sedlacek, Luke Woodhouse v Cross/Vandenbogaerde, Martin Schindler v Cullen/Bissell, Ryan Searle v Menzies/Reyes, Ross Smith v O'Connor/Haavisto, Chris Dobey v Zonneveld/Brooks and Jermaine Wattimena v M Smith/Owen. The evening session at 19:00 CET (18:00 GMT) includes Josh Rock v Chisnall/Soutar, Stephen Bunting v De Graaf/Lap, James Wade v Van Duijvenbode/HNQ3, Jonny Clayton v Van Barneveld/Kuivenhoven, Michael van Gerwen v Suljovic/Jehirszki, Luke Humphries v Doets/Kenny, Gian van Veen v Springer/HNQ2 and Danny Noppert v Heta/HNQ4.

Sunday October 11 concludes the tournament with the afternoon session at 13:00 CET (12:00 GMT) for the Last 16, followed by the evening session at 18:00 CET (17:00 GMT) for the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final. The format sees the first round, second round, third round and quarter-finals played as best of 11 legs (first to 6), the semi-finals as best of 13 legs (first to 7) and the final as best of 15 legs (first to 8).

The Host Nation Qualifier is TBC (Switzerland), the Nordic & Baltic Qualifier is Jani Haavisto (Finland) and the East European Qualifier is György Jehirszki (Hungary).

In the history of the Swiss Darts Trophy, Stephen Bunting won in 2025 with an 8-3 victory over Luke Woodhouse, while Dave Chisnall triumphed in 2024 with an 8-6 win against Ricardo Pietreczko.
