The PDC Women's Series continued at the Mattioli Arena in Leicester on Saturday 22 August, with Lisa Ashton and Fallon Sherrock sharing the spoils across two events. Ashton claimed Event 17 with a 5-0 whitewash over Lauryn Salter in the final, while Sherrock responded in style by denying Ashton a second title of the day with a dominant 5-0 victory in the Event 18 final.
Ashton's path to the Event 17 title included victories over Lauren Hall (4-1), Grace Ferridge (5-1), and a tight 5-4 win over Gemma Hayter. Salter, meanwhile, reached the final by defeating Jade Gofford 5-4 in the semi-finals, having earlier beaten Emma Pearce (5-2) and Italian prospect Aurora Fochesato (4-1). Notably, Fallon Sherrock fell in the last 16 to Aileen De Graaf, despite hitting a tournament-high 94.34 average in her last 32 win over Karolina Ratajska.
The weekend is pivotal for World Darts Championship qualification, with the top three on the Women's Series Order of Merit earning spots at Ally Pally, and the winner also securing a Grand Slam of Darts place. However, Beau Greaves is absent, having likely played her final Women's Series event as she focuses on ProTours, which opens the door for others. Lisa Ashton currently sits as the de facto leader, while Fallon Sherrock's position is less secure, with Vicky Pruim and Gemma Hayter among those chasing.
Other notable performances included semi-final runs from Gemma Hayter and Karolina Ratajska in Event 18, plus impressive showings from Trina Gulliver and Kirsty Hutchinson. The action continues on Sunday 23 August with more events at the Mattioli Arena.
