Aspinall trailed 3-1 early after Van Gerwen broke on double 16, but the Englishman responded by pinning double four to break back at 3-2, then held with a 100 checkout after hitting a 180. He moved 4-3 ahead, missed 86 on the bull but returned for 25 to lead, and after holding with double 16, sealed the win 6-4 with a 97 average, taking out double 10. He now faces Chris Dobey, who defeated Josh Rock 6-3 in the final tie of the afternoon. Dobey hit 119 to lead 3-0, but Rock fought back to 4-2 before Dobey pulled away, sealing the win with a spectacular 170 checkout.
Anderson survived a scare against Bunting, who broke immediately and led 3-0 before Anderson rallied to 3-2. Bunting edged 4-2, but Anderson broke back and eventually forced a decider at 5-5. In the final leg, Anderson hit 66 to seal a 6-5 victory. Van Veen, meanwhile, won the Dutch derby 6-3 against Jermaine Wattimena, breaking on 41 and hitting double 16 to lead 3-1. He pinned 68 to go 4-1 up, and after Wattimena closed to 4-3, Van Veen hit 117 to make it 5-3 and then broke again on double 20 to seal the win.
In other quarter-final ties, Dirk van Duijvenbode will face Danny Noppert after 'The Titan' downed Rob Cross 6-4 with six 180s, while Noppert beat Ryan Searle 6-4. Ross Smith takes on Dave Chisnall after Smith defeated Jonny Clayton 6-4, breaking on double 16 and hitting a 103 checkout, while Chisnall breezed past Keane Barry 6-2, breaking on 77 and 70 before sealing an emphatic win on 81.
