Adam Sevada has further cemented his dominance on the Championship Darts Corporation Tour, capturing Event 10 in Illinois last weekend to widen his lead atop the CDC rankings. The 41-year-old American, who already secured his World Championship spot by winning the North American Darts Championship in June, defeated Leonard Gates 5-3 in the final. Sevada was relentless throughout, averaging above 88 in all six of his matches and not dropping a single leg en route to the semi-finals, where he whitewashed four consecutive opponents.
Only in the last four did Sevada concede his first leg of the tournament, but Kevin Luke barely slowed him down, falling 4-1. Gates, ranked second on the CDC list, awaited in the final but could not deny the leader, as Sevada triumphed 5-3 for his 12th career CDC Tour title and fourth tournament win of 2026. The victory extends his lead with six events remaining, while the battle behind him remains tight: Gates holds just a one-point cushion over Fred Krueger in the race for the highest-ranked American spot at Alexandra Palace.
In Event 8, it was Gary Mawson who halted Sevada's charge. The 63-year-old former UK Open finalist claimed his first CDC Tour title in over two years with a 7-3 victory over the current number one in the final. Mawson's path included wins over 66-year-old Dan Lauby, Drew Anusky, and Joey Lynaugh, before he edged out Fred Krueger 6-3 in the quarter-finals. His semi-final against Canadian David Cameron was far tighter, with Mawson trailing 6-5 before turning the match around to win 7-6. He then dispatched Sevada convincingly in the final.
Event 9 belonged to Fred Krueger, who captured his second title in just three CDC tournaments. In the final, he beat former CDC Continental Cup winner Alex Spellman 7-4. Krueger opened with two 5-2 wins over Joey Lynaugh and Ronald Sargent, then avenged his earlier loss to Mawson with a dominant 6-2 victory. He survived a last-leg decider against Ram Guevara Jr. in the quarter-finals before easing past Jason Roker 7-3 in the semi-final and holding off Spellman in the final.
With the CDC Tour now heading into its final stretch, Sevada's lead looks comfortable, but the race for World Championship qualification via the CDC ranking remains fierce. Gates sits second, while Krueger is just one point behind. David Cameron, fourth in the ranking, has already booked his Ally Pally ticket by winning the Cross-Border Darts Challenge in April. Brayden Hall, currently sixth, is well placed to claim a spot as the highest-ranked Canadian on the CDC list.
